Baber plays key role

KARACHI, March 15: Superb all-round performance by Baber Qureshi helped Cantt Sports (CS) overcame Punjab CC by nine runs in KCCA Inter-club tournament on Tuesday.

Baber first hammered a brilliant half-century and later snapped four wickets to play a leading role in his team’s win.

Batting first, the winners scored 221 in 34.5 overs with Baber Qureshi (59) and Shoaib (50) being main contributors. Ali Raza (38) was another main scorer. Pacer Shoaib Ahmed grabbed four wickets for Punjab CC.

CS restricted their opponents to 212 in 39 overs, thanks to four for 38 by Baber. M. Javed 2-61 was another sucessful bowler. Rehan Hasan with unbeaten 56 and Shoaib Ahmed (45) were top scorers for the losers.

In another match, Mohammad Hussain (MHCC) beat Alamgir Gymkhana by four wickets. Brilliant knock of 59 by Sajid Ali for the winners was highlight of the match.—Agencies
