SIALKOT, March 15: The DIG has ordered immediate arrest of the police officials who tortured a youth to death in Hajipura police station about three weeks ago. Addressing a press conference at the Police Lines here on Wednesday evening, DIG Zafar Abbas Lak tendered apology to the grieved family and said the accused would be brought to justice at any cost.

Sialkot district nazim Akmal Cheema, who was present there, expressed grave concern over this brutal killing and police failure to arrest the accused.

Sialkot DPO Dr Tariq Khokhar said all the accused police officials have already been suspended from service and special teams were conducting raids for their arrest.

The DIG announced Rs100,000 compensation for the grieved family.

The Naikapura police had ‘kidnapped’ Shah Muhammad, 22, who came to Pakistan from Dubai on leave, from his house in Jandar Bazaar, Sialkot, over his suspect involvement in a dacoity case.

The police took him to the Hajipura police station where ASIs Gulzar Rana and Nawaz Tiwana and six constables brutally tortured him to death.
