LAKE SUCCESS: The Security Council President, M Jean Chauvel, today [May 11] agreed on the suggestion of the Egyptian delegate, Mohammad Fawzy Bey, to fix a date for a debate on the Hyderabad question as requested by Chaudhri Mohammad Zafrullah, Pakistan delegate to the United Nations... . M Chauvel said that he would set a date for a meeting of the Council after the Assembly’s adjournment.

The Security Council, when it met today, considered the letter … asking the Council to hold a meeting soon to resume the debate on Hyderabad. The President said that the letter was before the members and asked if [they] had anything to say on it. M. Mohammed Fawzy Bey, Egyptian delegate, said the Pakistan Foreign Minister decided to make his statement on Hyderabad before he returned to his country. For this and other considerations … it was necessary for a meeting of the Council to be fixed… . [Mr Bey] added that it might be necessary to hold the Hyderabad question on the agenda until it was completed. … The President said … he would be in touch with members … and with the Pakistan Foreign Minister to act on the suggestion of the member for Egypt.
