KARACHI: A young man was shot dead while another wounded during a scuffle over a ‘personal dispute’ in Korangi early on Thursday morning, said police and rescue services.

The dead was identified as Faizan Umair, 30, while the injured as Ghulam Mohammed, 37, both resident of Sector 33-C near Noor Masjid in Korangi-2.

Korangi police SHO Amin Solangi said it was a fight among neighbours over some issue, in which one man was killed from one side while another injured from the other side. He said the police had come to know that they were taking drugs when a dispute arose between them.

He said that a brother of the injured, Rehan, had been arrested and an investigation launched to ascertain the exact nature of the dispute after obtaining a CCTV footage from the area. The body and injured were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

Man found shot dead

A young man was found shot dead in Surjani Town early on Thursday morning.

Police said the body of an unidentified man in his early 30s was recovered in Sector-10-A near Mushtaq Residency.

The corpse was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities where he was later identified as Sajid Husain.

A police officer said that the victim was a resident of the same area; he was said to be an ‘emotionally disturbed’ man.

The relatives told the police that they did not have any enmity with anyone.

He had gone to a factory in search for job, they stated.

Quoting the witnesses, the police said that armed pillion riders had asked him to stop. As he ran, the suspects opened fire on him and fled.

He suffered a bullet injury on his back and died because of excessive bleeding. The police were investigating the possible motive of the murder.
