NAWABSHAH: Members of district bar associations and taluka bars of Nawabshah, Naushahro Feroze, Sanghar and Mirpurkhas boycotted courts’ proceedings in response to Pakistan Bar Council’s call for protest on Thursday and in solidarity with lawyers of Lahore, who were brutalised by police during a protest a day ago.
In Shaheed Benazirabad, DBAs members of Nawabshah, Sakrand, Daur and Qazi Ahmed completely boycotted courts. In Naushahro Feroze, DBA members completely boycotted the courts’ proceedings and staged a demonstration on court premises demanding stern action against Lahore police.
Similarly, lawyers in Kandiaro, Bhiria, Mehrabpur and Moro also stayed away from courts.
Similarly, members of Sanghar DBA and taluka bar associations of Tando Adam, Khipro and Shahdadpur also boycotted courts in solidarity with the lawyers of Lahore.
In Mirpurkhas, a complete strike was observed in courts while Mirpurkhas DBA strongly condemned police attack on lawyers in Lahore and registration of false cases against their colleagues.
They demanded higher authorities and chief justice order an impartial inquiry into the episode, award exemplary punishment to the culprits and withdraw cases registered against lawyers.
In Thatta, members of DBA boycotted proceedings of district and sessions court to register protest against use of force by Punjab police against lawyers in Lahore.
