KARACHI: Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori on Wednesday summoned the session of the provincial assembly on Thursday (today).

The session was called as the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party is set to table a resolution in the house to recognise May 9 as a ‘dark day in the country’s history’.

The resolution, submitted by PPP’s Sadia Javed on Wednesday and to be taken by the house on Thursday, condemned the violent incidents on May 9, 2023 after the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf founder Imran Khan and urged the federal government to hold accountable “the architects and all individuals involved in the mayhem”.

It said that the arrest of the PTI leader was exploited to unleash widespread destruction and chaos in whole country. “Pakistan’s critical defence installations were attacked, national memorial heritage sites were vandalised, and innocents civilian were killed and robbed,” the resolution added.
