KARACHI: A man was shot dead in Gulshan-i-Hadeed, police said on Wednesdsay.

They said that Pervez Ahmed, 50, was targeted at Rao Arcade, Phase-2, late on Tuesday night.

An Edhi Foundation spokesperson said that he was killed by robbers over resistance.

However, Steel Town SHO Ghulam Husain Pirzada said that the motive behind the murder was not clear.

He said that the victim was riding a motorcycle when armed pillion riders opened indiscriminate firing on him. He suffered six bullet wounds on different parts of his body and was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where doctors pronounced him dead.

He said the killers did not take away anything.

He said the victim originally hailed from Mirpurkhas.

The SHO said that he was reportedly involved in property business, sale/purchase of Iranian oil, etc.
