One-sided final

LAHORE, Feb 3: Servis Industries defeated Master Paints 6 1/2-2 to lift the Uni Gas Polo Cup at the Lahore Polo Club Sunday.

In the subsidiary final, Argentinean seven-goal handicapper Toto Collardin struck four times to help KFC Remounts blast Samsung Mobiles 9-4. Arsalan Najib and Haseeb Mehta (two each) and Shahryar (one) were the other scorers.

For Samsung Mobiles, Taimur Mawaz Khan (two) and Ramiro Garros and Dr Iftikhar Ali Khan Simba (one each) scored.

Servis Industries enjoyed half-a-goal’s advantage on handicap. Both the Master Paint goals were scored by seven-goal Argentinean Diego Araya in the first and second chukker.

Asif Tiwana missed a 60-yard penalty but recovered to convert a 40-yard penalty to put Servis 1 1/2-1 ahead after first chukker.

Samiullah struck twice for servis during second chukker but Araya reduced the margin 3 1/2-2 by scoring his second and his team’s last goal.

In the remaining two chukkers, Servis scored though Asif Asif (third chukker) and Malik Atif Yar Tiwana and Faaiz Rahim Khan (fourth chukker).

Meanwhile, Venture Cup polo tournament for seniors and juniors will begin from Monday.

Remounts Whites, Remounts Orange, Samsung Mobiles, Master Paints and ACE School will participate in the seniors event while the juniors event will be played between Musa Industries, Rangers, Borjan Maroon, Nee Punhal, Blackberets, Guard Rice Whites and First Law Company.
