HARIPUR: Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) will establish a special desk at its central office to promote business activities and encourage industrialists to play their role in strengthening national economy.

This was said by FPCCI president Sheikh Atif Ikram during his visit to Haripur Chamber of Commerce and Industry here the other day. He said that FPCCI cabinet was cognisant of the problems being faced by industrialists.

He said that FPCCI had decided to facilitate investors by addressing their problems related to government departments. He said that under the desk a district development board was being set up at Hattar Economic Zone (HEZ) comprising the district heads of electricity, SNGPL and revenue departments.

Mr Ikram said that FPCCI would play the role of an oversight body. Under the development board, the problems of industrialists would be addressed within the shortest possible time. It would help them to save their energies and resources by getting their grievances addressed within the bounds of the district in future.

As part of promotion of products of Hattar Economic Zone, FPCCI is going to establish a display centre in Hattar for which a 605-square yards plot has been acquired. The acquisition of land for relocation of the office of Haripur Chamber of Commerce and Industry is under process.

Earlier, local industrialists talked about the problems of high rate of mark-up, power and gas loadshedding and rising cost of production of industries and lack of incentive from government.

FPCCI general secretary Zafar Bakhtawri, HCCI president Tayab Swati, Safdar Zaman Shah, member executive body Saarc Chamber of Commerce, Senior vice president of FPCCI Aon Ali Syed, SM Tanveer from United Business Group also spoke on the occasion.
