TAXILA: An old enmity claimed the life of a dumper driver in the limits of Hassanabdal police station on Wednesday.

Police sources said 50-year-old Nazar Shah was travelling on his dumper after loading crushed stone from a nearby stone crushing plant when two masked men on a motorcycle intercepted his vehicle and showered him with bullets near the Khudda bus stop on G.T. Road. As a result, he died on the spot. The assassins managed to escape from the scene.

Later, police reached the spot and moved the body to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for an autopsy.

According to the family of the victim, police have attributed the killing to an old enmity. Hassanabdal police registered a case and launched further investigation.

Meanwhile, police on Wednesday arrested three brick kiln workers who allegedly strangled their colleague to death in the limits of Pindigheb police station over a dispute.

Station House Officer at Pindigheb police station Sub-Inspector Syed Imran Haider had said Mohammad Nadir, along with Mohammad Naveed and Pervaiz Talib, natives of Muzaffargarh, worked in a brick kiln. They allegedly strangled their co-worker Mohammad Shoukat to death over a petty dispute on April 27 and fled away. He said the police, after successfully tracing their hideouts, arrested them.

Separately, police arrested a proclaimed offender (PO) wanted in an attempted murder case registered against him with Wah Cantonment police station last year.
