HOLIDAYS GALORE: The government needs to realise the impact on the community of announcing holidays for official visits of foreign dignitaries or events like cricket matches. Without any doubt, the process of academic learning should not be compromised for the sake of accommodating guests or events. Finding a balance between honouring important occasions as well as ensuring regular functioning of educational institutions is crucial for the overall development and wellbeing of society. There is a need to create awareness and advocacy for prioritising education and addressing the needs of the people.

LIVING ON THE MOON: Living in Wassayo Jamali village is like living on the moon, as both are places with no basic facilities for sustaining human life. The village is deprived of roads, drainage system, utilities and security. Criminals roam the streets and lanes all night and do whatever they want to. Those who got themselves elected to parliament from the area have turned a deaf ear to the pleas of the electorate. The government should do something in this regard.

JUNK FOOD: The availability of junk food in more or less all schools has contributed to childhood obesity. Most schoolgoing children, even when they carry a lunch box to their schools, also carry some cash which they spend on buying junk food. The lunch box is either taken back home or ‘served’ to school staff. Parents should stop giving cash to their children, while the government should ban the sale of junk food in schools.

PAK-IRAN TIES: After the recent visit of President Ebrahim Raisi of Iran, one hopes that sincere efforts will now start with the assistance of Iran to complete the already delayed gas pipeline project. It is also hoped that trade and commerce will soon start between the two countries.
