LAKKI MARWAT: The district administration has fixed the rates of wheat threshing and asked the tractor owners to implement the rates in letter and spirit.
The rates were fixed at a meeting held at the tehsil building in Lakki city with assistant commissioner Yasir Nazir in the chair.
Officials of the agriculture department, tractors’ owners and farmers’ representatives were also in attendance.
“The local administration had received complaints about tractor owners for their involvement in fleecing farmers by receiving huge amounts for wheat crop threshing,” said an official.
He said that the assistant commissioner immediately convened a meeting to fix the rates.
“The small tractor owners will charge growers at Rs4,100 per hour for wheat threshing, while those owning large Russian tractors will receive Rs4,500 per hour,” he maintained.
He said that the rates had been notified under Price Control and Prevention of Profiteering and Hoarding Act, 1997.
SCOUTS UNIT: A Shaheen Scout unit was inaugurated at a primary school in Lakki city the other day under an initiative of the district boy scouts association to promote scouting in the government primary schools across the district.
District scout secretary Naimatullah Khan Minakhel inaugurated the unit at a function held in the Government Primary School No 1, Minakhel.
Around two dozen students took oath to formally join the scout movement.
On the occasion, the students delivered speeches on the importance of scouting and education and sang patriotic songs.
