RAWALPINDI: A retired military officer died under suspicious circumstances in Faisal Town with the family alleging that it was a premeditated murder over a monetary dispute.

The Naseerabad police later registered a murder case after a postmortem on the body at the District Headquarters Hospital.

Hamid Usman lodged an FIR with the police stating that his brother-in-law and cousin Rao Ali Shan, a resident of Defence Housing Authority Phase I, had a property dealing with Khawar Abbasi and the latter had to pay him Rs70 million.

He said Abbasi used to call his brother-in-law and offered him different property in lieu of the amount. On May 4, Abbasi and his cousin Hassan called him to Faisal Town.

He said Shan accompanied by Nasir and his former personal assistant Zohaib went to Faisal Town. Later, Zohaib made a phone call to Shan’s family and informed them that he had fallen from a height of the building and was being shifted to CMH in a critical condition.

The family members rushed to the hospital where doctors announced his death.

The complainant said in the FIR that Shan was physically and mentally fit and used to mention how Abbasi had been using delaying tactics to pay him the money.

He alleged that Abbasi with the help of his cousin Hasan took him to an under-construction plaza in Faisal Town which was not his property on the pretext of checking the structure. Under a conspiracy, he alleged, they took Shan to a dangerous point in the plaza and pushed him down and murdered him.

The complainant sought legal action against Abbasi and his accomplices for causing the death with a planning.
