KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan on Sunday asked its legislators to work hard to resolve the problems of the people of their respective constituencies.

The elected MNAs and MPAs of the party were also told to be vigilant and keep a close eye on the quota of jobs recently announced for urban Sindh and “let no one steal the right of qualified youth of cities”.

The directives came from senior party leader and Federal Minister Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui while chairing a meeting of the elected members of the National and Sindh Assemblies.

The meeting was also attended by Governor Kamran Tessori and members of the coordination committee of the MQM-P.

Among other points, the meeting participants also set targets for the parliamentarians and one of them was to make sure that urban youth get the share in recently announced Sindh government jobs, a statement issued by the party said.

“You all have to work hard to resolve the problems of your constituencies,” the statement quoted Dr Siddiqui as saying.

“The MPAs must stay vigilant and make sure that the jobs set aside under Sindh urban quota should be offered only to the competent and deserving youngsters of Sindh cities.”

The meeting participants were also briefed about details of the recent meetings of the party leaders with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and senior officials of the Sindh government over growing street crimes in Karachi.

“The meeting participants also discussed different development projects in Karachi including K-IV, fast deteriorating infrastructure of the city and poor quality of utility services, including power and water supply,” added the statement.
