HYDERABAD, March 14: District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil has urged the organizations working for the eradication of child labour to establish child welfare and learning institutions in backward areas of the district.

He said while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of a seminar on “Elimination of Worst Forms of Child Labour from the Glass Bangle Industry in Hyderabad” at a local hotel on Monday, the district government would adopt some institutions through Citizens Community Board.

Nazim had special words of praise for NRSP and ILO for curbing the menace from the society, and said the district government too was playing its part by running schools and learning centres through District Baitul Mall.

The schools not only imparted education free of cost to street children but also paid them rupees 10 per day and Rs300 per month as an incentive, he added.

He said the district government had recently invited proposals from the NGOs for the legislation to protect the rights of workers and children within the framework of district council.
