KOHAT: Law minister Aftab Alam on Sunday inaugurated work on the Gulam Banda-Shindhand and Turki Ismail roads in Jawaki area of Darra Adamkhel tribal subdivision at a cost of Rs78 million.

He was accompanied by MNA Shehryar Afridi, PTI Darra president Abid Rehman, Gumbat tehsil president Sajid Iqbal, political figures Ishtiaq Qureshi, Waseem Khan, and local elders.

Mr Alam directed the officials concerned that no compromise would be made on the quality of work on the roads in his KP-91 constituency .

He said that all the past deprivations of the people of the tribal subdivision would be removed. He said that it was not a favour to the people but an obligation to spend their tax money on their welfare.

ACTION SOUGHT: Social and business circles have demanded action against Naanbais for violating the official rate of roti.

Haji Abid, chairman of grand business alliance, said on Sunday that the oven owners were openly selling less-weight roti at high prices, adding that the administration and the food department had no control over them despite public complaints.

He said Naanbais were selling 160 grams roti for Rs30 instead of 200 grams.

Shah Mehmood, president of Sons of Kohat, a platform of a dozen social organisations, said the Naanbais had stopped selling Rs15 roti.

Farrukh, a resident of Abdullah Colony, said the Naanbais had no regard for the official rate of roti.

The consumers demanded action against the Naanbais for not abiding by the official rate.
