KARACHI: A private security guard was shot dead by robbers on the outskirts of the metropolis, police said on Sunday.

SITE-Superhighway SHO Aqeel Ahmed said that victim Faisal, 25, worked at a flour mill in Wazir Goth. He and his friend were going somewhere on a motorbike when armed muggers, also on a motorcycle, intercepted them and looted their cell phones and cash at gunpoint.

They were fleeing when Faisal, who was armed with his licensed pistol, opened fire on them, the SHO said, adding that the muggers remained unhurt and they also returned fire and two bullets hit the security guard in the leg and back. He died of excessive bleeding.
