KUALA LUMPUR: The Asian Development Bank was today [April 27] urged to expel the Chiang Kai-shek regime, and in its place admit China as a member. Mr A.G.N. Kazi, Pakistan’s Secretary-General of Finance and Economic Coordination, made the call in a speech at the annual meeting of the board. … “While the membership of the bank has been constantly growing, and now extends from Afghanistan to the South Pacific, it is a pity that we do not find in it the true representatives of that great Asian country, China,” Mr Kazi said. The Pakistani delegate then referred to the UN resolution which expelled the Nationalist Chinese representative from the world body and recognised Peking as the lawful Chinese representative.— News agencies
