KARACHI, March 12: The decisions to impose ban on movement of specific vehicles on selected roads and the ban on parking at certain areas have added to the miseries of citizens besides traffic congestions.

The authorities closed a portion of Abdullah Haroon Road running in front of the US consulate for motorcyclists, Suzuki-pickups, and other vehicles while cars were exempted. Similarly, Fatima Jinnah Road running in front of the US Consul-General residence has been closed for all types of vehicles.

The closure of one road and partial closure of the other leads to traffic congestions at times near Metropole Hotel. The parking on Club Road has been closed for the past some months. Consequently, motorists flocked to Merewether Road to park their vehicles and the road remains congested from dawn to dusk.

The Aiwan-i-Saddar Road has been banned for almost all modes of public transport except taxis. Similarly, rickshaws are not allowed to enter Zaibunnisa Street in Saddar.

The government has also banned the movement of all types of vehicles on roads near American Public School near Karsaz Road.

The recent ban on buses on the I.I Chundrigar Road created traffic mess near Merewether Tower and on M.A. Jinnah Road.
