TEHERAN: Regional Co-operation for Development (RCD) of Iran, Turkey and Pakistan yesterday [April 4] ended its two-day Ministerial Council meeting at Persepolis, South Iran. A communique … said the three countries reaffirmed their faith in the philosophy and objectives of RCD and pledged to take “all possible measures” to strengthen the organisation. … The Council recommended that expert groups on trade liberalisation and expansion measures meet in Teheran … to finalise recommendations on the establishment of RCD permanent trade arrangements. … The meeting also recommended concentrated efforts on selected joint ventures which have greater potential for development on a regional basis.

The meeting noted the progress in the construction of an RCD Highway connecting the three countries, to be completed in 1975, and expressed “great satisfaction” on Iran’s project to continue the Iranian Railway network from Kerman, South-East Iran, to Pakistan border… . — News agencies
