PESHAWAR: Death toll from the rain-related incidents in the province climbed to 10 with 12 persons injured, according to Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).

“According to initial reports, 10 persons, including eight children and two women, were killed and 12 others, including nine children, two women and a man, sustained injuries in heavy rains and hailstorms on Friday and Saturday,” said a statement issued by PDMA on Sunday.

On Saturday, Rescue 1122 had said seven people were killed and nine others injured as heavy rain and hailstorms battered large parts of the province for the second consecutive day.

It said three persons were killed in Bannu and two each in Shangla and Bajaur districts.

On Sunday, a woman died and her son sustained injuries as dozens of houses collapsed in upper parts of Hazara division on Sunday.

Rescue officials said the widow of Sardar Daud and his son were buried when their house collapsed in Shinkiari area of Mansehra.

They said locals retrieved both from rubble and shifted them to Civil Hospital Shinkiari, where doctors pronounced the woman dead.

Her son was referred to Ayub Medical Complex Hospital, Abbottabad.

In Shangla, bodies of two missing children were retrieved from rubble of their house on Sunday. The house had collapsed on Friday.

The deceased were identified as Laiba, 3, and Hasnain, 3.

The PDMA report said 27 houses were damaged, including three fully and 24 partially. It added rain-related incidents were reported from Peshawar, Nowshera, Bajaur, Shangla, Mansehra, Bannu, Mohmand, Mardan and North Waziristan.
