CHARSADDA: Four miners, three of them from the same family, were killed in a coal mine explosion in central Kurram district here on Thursday.

The local people retrieved dead bodies and the injured from the coal mine. Deputy commissioner Javedullah Mehsud confirmed that the incident occurred in a coal mine in Dand Khwaidadkhel area of central Kurram tribal district after the mine was filled with gas and resultantly exploded with a bang.

He said the mine caved in after the blast and as a result four workers were buried under the debris. He said the deceased identified as Hakeem Zada, his son Danish Khan and brother Sherin Dada and Shah Rukh. The local people and other miners retrieved the bodies and other injured workers. The DC said an investigation was under way.
