KARACHI: A judicial magistrate on Saturday remanded the SHO of the Zaman Town police station and his four subordinates in police custody in a robbery case.

SHO Rao Rafiq and others have been booked and arrested for allegedly robbing a trader of over Rs11 million near Sohrab Goth a couple of days ago.

The investigating officer produced the SHO, Sub-Inspector Gul Mohammad and constables Abid Mehmood, Hafeez and Rizwan before the court and sought their custody for further questioning.

The IO submitted that around Rs5m had been recovered from the detained suspects and efforts were being made to apprehend their absconding accomplices as well as to recover the remaining amount.

A judicial magistrate (Malir) handed over the suspects to police custody on five-day physical remand with direction to the IO to produce them on the next date of hearing along with a progress report.

A case was registered under sections 395 (punishment for dacoity), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code at the Sachal police station on the complaint of trader Mohammad Khan.
