ISLAMABAD: The capital administration has established three Ramazan Sasta bazaars at G-6, G-9 and I-9 to provide quality edibles to the residents at controlled rates in the holy month.

The administration said 22 price control magistrates were also inspecting prices at various markets to curb profiteering. In this regarded, a crackdown is underway against shopkeepers involved in profiteering.

“Under the directives of the deputy commissioner Islamabad, the magistrates also ensured display of price list at shops,” the administration said.

Besides, the Islamabad Food Authority officials were also visiting the Sasta bazaars to ensure availability of quality food items. The food authority officials identified rotten green grocery and other edibles at different stalls and destroyed eight kg fish and 19 kg green grocery.

Meanwhile, the chief commissioner and the deputy commissioner visited the Ramazan bazaars to review the facilities and resolve problems faced by the public besides ensuring provision of essentials to the citizens at affordable prices.

According to a spokesperson for the ICT administration, the chief commissioner said the purpose of setting up the Sasta bazaars was to provide relief to the people so that essential items could be made available to the people.

Weekly bazaars open daily

On the direction of the chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), the civic agency has decided to ensure supply of quality food items to consumers in Ramazan.

In this regard, the Directorate of Municipal Administration (MCI) has organised the weekly Margalla Bazaar at H-9 and weekly Aabpara Bazaar at G-6 on daily basis till the end of the month.

“In these bazaars, supply of high quality food items is being ensured to the citizens.” Similarly, the MCI has said consumers can register their complaints at 0321-5050334. The relevant staff is present in the field for timely redress of the complaints received, a press release issued by the civic agency claimed.

Moreover, before the arrival of Ramazan, the cleaning of the meat, vegetable and fruit sections in the weekly markets was completed.

The CDA administration has said ensuring the supply of quality food items to the citizens was one of the top priorities of the organisation. All possible facilities would be provided to the citizens in the markets set up by the civic agency, it added.
