Squash: Farhan, Bilal move ahead

ISLAMABAD, March 6: Farhan Mahboob and Bilal Zaman scored victories on the first day of the qualifying stage in the $25,000 Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) squash championship on Monday.

Bilal edged past Aaqib Hanif 10-11, 11-8, 11-6, 11-7, while Farhan beat Waqar Mahboob, who had to retire, 10-11, 11-8.

Naveed Atlas was a 10-5, 3-11, 9-11, 10-11 winner over Adil Maqbool and Adil Atlas defeated Waseem Shad 6-11, 11-9, 0-11, 11-2, 11-5. Later, Shahnawaz carved out a 11-4, 11-5, 11-7 victory against Ahmed Hameed.

The main round of the championship starts on Wednesday.
