GUJRANWALA: The Special Judge Central has sentenced a human trafficker involved in the Libyan boat tragedy to 20 years in prison.

According to the Federal Investigation Agency, the hearing was held in the court of the special judge central. The convict, Rasheed, was also fined Rs14 million.

According to the prosecution, the convict took Rs 2.3 million from Ahsan Iqbal to send him to Italy by air but he was rather taken to Libya from where Iqbal boarded a boat carrying a large number of illegal migrants which capsized off the Greece coast. Iqbal was among the dead.

According to the FIA, a case against Rasheed was registered in 2023 by the Composite Circle, Gujranwala.

KITE: Regional Police Officer Tayyab Hafeez Cheema has asked all CPOs/DPOs to take measures to prevent kite flying and implement the Kite Flying Ordinance.

He requested citizens to support the local police in uprooting this menace.

During the last three months, the Gujranwala Regional Police have registered 178 cases and arrested 182 people involved in kite flying and selling.
