Speaking to Geo News, PML-N Senator Irfan Siddiqui has said that Article 91 of the Constitutions clearly stated that the National Assembly “shall meet” 21 days after the holding of general elections.

He made the remarks while commenting on reports that President Arif Alvi had not summoned the new NA despite being sent a summary of the same over reserved seats not being allocated to the Sunni Ittehad Council, which PTI-backed lawmakers have joined.

“The president is not doing this for the first time. He has been doing this his entire tenure. He has never played the role of a non-biased president,” he said. He noted that previous presidents were also affiliated with political parties but had played their role.
