SARGODHA, March 4: Route of Karachi-Faisalabad night coach should be extended to Sargodha so that people of Mandi Bahauddin, Khushab, Mianwali and Bhakkar districts could avail the facility.

This was said by District Nazim Inamul Haq Piracha in a written request made to Pakistan Railways chairman.

He said only Super Express could not meet requirements of the people for safe and speedy travel between Sargodha and Karachi.

Earlier, talking to the press at his office here on Saturday, Mr Piracha said as many as 75,840 floor bags weighing 10kg each would be distributed among 6,520 deserving families of the district at subsidised rate under the chief minister’s atta supply programme. He said 10 sale points had been identified throughout the district for this purpose.

JASHN-I-BAHARAN: Jashn-e-Baharan convener Mian Sultan Ali Ranjha and DCO Dr Sajid Yousfani on Saturday opened the six-day festival by arranging contests of recitation from the Holy Quran and Naat Khawani at the Jinnah Hall.

Hafiz Muhammad Husain Kaswali, Qari Muhammad Saifullah Qadri, Qari Muhammad Safdar, Yousaf Ali Qadri, Qari Muhammad Nasar Hayat, Qari Abu Bakar, Muhammad Jamshed Qadri and Qari Muhammad Yousaf Abu Bakar recited verses and Naats.

RALLY: A protest rally was staged here on Saturday after Asr prayers in front of the Block No. 1 mosque against the visit of US President George W.Bush.

MMA leader Dr Arshad Shahid said a large number of people had joined them in observing black day at the arrival of President Bush.
