Beautiful Buner

Published February 19, 2024

I BELONG to Buner that is adjacent to Swat. Undoubtedly, Buner is a lush green city of beautiful mountains and sight-seeing spots. Sadly, not many people know about this place due to lack of focus, investment and promotion by the government. Buner is called the land of saints as it houses the shrines of Hazrat Peer Baba and Dewana Baba. Hundreds of thousands of tourists and devotees from different parts of the country pay visit to these shrines every year.

Buner holds a mighty mountain peak in its heart, called the Elum Mountain, which has much been discussed in local literature.

The Taghan Waterfall has quickly become the buzzword on social media, with a large number of people coming to enjoy the beauty of it. Moreover, Buner is home to places like Gokand, Kalil and Qadir Nagar.

The government needs to pay attention to places like Buner that hold a great tourism potential in the country. Nepal generates massive revenue from tourism. According to a report, about a million tourists visited Nepal last year. With the right kind of investment in Buner’s tourism and infrastructure, the possibilities are endless. This will boost the local economy as well as contribute to the exchequer.
