MIANWALI, March 2: Ten labourers seriously injured in an accident at Maple Leaf cement factory in Iskandarabad on Thursday. It is learnt that six labourers were repairing storage place while standing on a rake about 50 feet high. Suddenly the rake broke and the labourers fell on four others standing on the ground as a result of which Raees Khan, Ghulam Shabbir, Allah Dad, Inayatullah, Ibrar Alam, Iqbal, Zubair, Saeed, Shahid Abbasi and Abdul Razzaq sustained injuries.

They were rushed to the Housing Colony Hospital, Iskandarabad, from where they were shifted to the PAF Hospital and DHQ Hospital, Mianwali, due to their serious condition.

Hospital sources said the condition of Ibrar, Zubair, Raees and Shahid was critical.

Factory sources said a private engineering company, Descon, was working at the phase II project of the factory.

They said many accidents have occurred due to negligence of the factory management in which many innocent lives have been lost.

They urged the high ups that such companies should be roped in to the labour laws and should be held responsible for accidents under the labour laws.
