ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Law and Justice on Wednesday launched the Urdu version of the “Pakistan Code” website and mobile app “Digital Repository of Federal Laws”.
Launching the additional language at the website and the mobile app, Law Minister Ahmad Irfan Aslam said it was a significant leap forward in legal accessibility and empowerment of those who matter.
The primary objective of the Pakistan Code website is to democratise access to federal laws. This platform serves as an exclusive portal for accessing digitised and updated federal laws, offering convenience and reliability to all users.
Presently, the website hosts approximately 35 laws in Urdu, focusing on those frequently accessed by individuals. The decision to provide these laws in Urdu stems from the recognition that many citizens face challenges comprehending laws enacted in English. It will help the individuals understand their legal rights and obligations more effectively.
Key laws, including the Pakistan Penal Code, Pemra regulations and NAB and anti-terrorism acts, are among those featured on the platform. These laws play pivotal roles in shaping various aspects of society, and their availability in Urdu will enhance public awareness and comprehension.
“The launch of Pakistan Code website and mobile app represents a significant milestone in our efforts to promote legal literacy and ensure equitable access to justice for all citizens. We believe that this initiative will contribute towards a more informed and empowered society, fostering a deeper understanding of legal frameworks and enhancing compliance with the law,” the law minister said.
Law Secretary Raja Naeem Akbar lauded the dedication of the relevant officers for their efforts in the development of both the website and mobile app in the Urdu version and said this would be beneficial for a large number of people across the country.
