PESHAWAR, March 1: Tahira Naz of the Government Higher Secondary School, Chamkani, and Tania Khan of the Peshawar Model Degree College were declared best athletes of 2005-6 of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education games held on Wednesday.

Tahira and Tania grabbed two gold medals and a silver medal each. Tahira won the gold medals in 100m and broad jump and the silver in 200m. Tania snatched gold in 200m and 400m and the silver in broad jump.

Overall trophy was claimed by the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Chamkani, securing 34 points, followed by the Jinnah College for women (University of Peshawar) with 21 points and the Peshawar Model Degree College with 20 points.

Major games trophy was shared by the Frontier College for women and the Jinnah College for women.

BISE chairman, Ali Khan Badani, was chief guest on the occasion. He gave away trophies to the winners. He also announced a cash prize of Rs5,000 each for the best players – Tahira and Tania.

Netball: Jinnah College, Frontier College for Women.

Table tennis: Frontier College, City District College.

Volleyball: Frontier College, Charsadda College.
