SAHIWAL, March 1: The prime minister has ordered payment of Rs100,00 compensation each to the heirs of five victims of poisonous gas at Chak 102/7-R.

The prime minister has taken this decision on the report submitted by MNA Rai Azizullah.

Constable Bilal, his brothers Amjad and Talat, and two other Sabir Ali and Waris Ali had died due to poisonous gas after they entered a well to remove the faulty motor on Feb 12 last.

The DCO has been asked to make the payment to the father of three brothers, Chaudhry Muhammad Tufail, and widows of two other persons.

KILLED: A man was killed while his pillion rider sustained serious injuries when a speeding bus hit their motorcycle on Harappa Bypass on Tuesday night.

Tehsil council employee Rana Nasir along with his colleague Waseem Ahmed was coming from Chichawatni to Sahiwal by his motorcycle (KB-5520) when the accident occurred. Nasir died on the spot while his colleague received serious wounds. He was admitted to hospital.

CHECKING: Checking of poultry farms in the district has been ordered for fear of a bird flue virus.

The DCO has asked the district livestock officer to conduct all necessary tests required for the detection of any virus in poultry farm birds.
