NAB team probes Rs11.9m scandal

DADU, March 1: A team from the National Accountability Bureau, NAB, here on Wednesday recorded statements of 17 staff members of the National Bank of Pakistan, NBP, Sehwan branch into alleged embezzlement of Rs11.9 million.

The NAB team which reached at the NBP Sehwan branch, and detained three employees of the bank, Imdad Ali Sehto, Manzoor Hussain Shahani and Mohammad Ali Otho.

The team also recorded statements of 17 employees. Sources said that the team also recovered an unspecified amount from the three detained bank employees, who were later set free.

The manager of the NBP Sehwan, Mohammad Ali Khoso told this scribe on phone that Rs6.1 million of the bank and some amount of private parties was embezzled.

He confirmed that the NAB was conducting investigation into the matter.

He said that president of NBP, Syed Ali Raza Shah had suspended three officials, Imdad Ali Sehto, Manzoor Hussain Shahani and Mohammad Ali Otho in June 2005. The investigations into the affairs of NBP Johi and Kotri branches was going on.
