LAHORE: The Lahore General Hospital (LGH) has installed two latest MRI and CT scan machines.

The equipment was purchased at the cost of Rs720 million and caretaker Punjab health minister Prof Javed Akram inaugurated the installation of the machines here on Friday.

Ameeruddin Medical College Principal Prof. Al-Fareed Zafar briefed the health minister that LGH was receiving many trauma cases, necessitating procurement of new MRI and CT scan machines for the timely diagnosis and treatment of the patients.

LGH Medical Superintendent Prof Dr Nudrat Sohail and radiology department head Dr Uzma Habib were also present.

Prof Akram inspected the machines and told the reporters that the new equipment will give accurate results. Prof Zafar said more than 8,000 patients, most poor, daily visited the emergency and outdoor departments of the LGH from various parts of the country.

He said that MRI and CT Scan tests would be conduced free of cost.
