MAP FOR CONVENIENCE: The reconstruction and rebuilding of roads in Karachi seems like a never-ending process. It has made our otherwise mediocre transport system even slower. Besides creating problems for the residents living nearby, the construction work is affecting the studies of students who usually get late for their classes. Many students miss their first class in the morning due to obstructions and traffic jams on the roads. Those who travel from far away areas on a daily basis for work and educational purposes should be informed via a map, marking all the under construction roads and alternative routes. It will be a great initiative.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT: Balochistan needs better public transport, especially in its rural areas. Despite plans and promises to introduce 25 green buses, Quetta, the provincial capital, lacks a reliable public transport system. Besides, a comprehensive ambulance service is also missing that leads to delays in getting people to hospitals in times of emergency. The government should improve public transport in Balochistan.

TEXTBOOK PRICE HIKE: The soaring cost of textbooks has become a pressing issue. It is disconcerting that students belonging to middle-class families find themselves unable to afford the textbooks the prices of which have gone up by a staggering 90 per cent. This surge in prices has caused formidable challenges. Urgent intervention by the government is imperative.

POWER OUTAGES: Balina Kathan union council of Khuzdar district has been facing shortage of electricity for a long time. The power supply remains disrupted without any reason throughout the day. Despite paying their utility bills regularly, the residents continue to suffer. The authorities concerned should step in to resolve the critical issue.
