LAHORE: A female officer of the Local Government & Community Development Department alleges that she was evicted from a government residence on Monday night.

Qaiser, spokesperson for the MCL administrator, said she was transferred to Kasur in August and had been given notices time and again to vacate the house, but she didn’t do so.

Ms Chohan alleges nearly 25 officers of the MCL and police took part in the operation.

An official said under the relevant rules and regulations, any transferred officer cannot be asked to vacate the house within 120 days (maximum) of their transfer to a new place.

“There is also a recent ruling of the Lahore High Court that the officer transferred should have been given a maximum of two years to vacate the house,” he maintained.

She says the team started cutting the iron sheet (jaali) of the main door of the house and broke into the house after opening the door. She also accused the officers of misbehaving with her besides threatening her as soon as she started making footage of the vandalism.

She said, in April 2022, the house was allotted to her under the rules.

She alleged several officers were holding MCL residences unlawfully.

About the illegal occupation of the houses by non-MCL officers unlawfully, the spokesperson said such officers were allotted the house under rules and regulations. He rejected the information about the allotment of Ms Chohan’s vacated house to the MCL chief officer and his officially designated residence in Gulberg to a top administration officer.

Ms. Chohan says she was neither given any notice nor someone approached her to vacate the house any time before the operation.
