Restoration of democracy urged

SHIKARPUR, Feb 27: People want democracy to be restored in the country in order to improve their standard of life. This was stated by Sindh ARD president Zain Ansari while speaking at a meeting here on Sunday night.

He said the rulers had failed to redress the grievances of people.

He said that selfish and opportunist rulers had damaged national confidence but they would not be allowed to play with the fate of the nation.

He demanded that free and fair elections should be held under the supervision of caretaker government comprising judges of the Supreme Court.

Ali Hyder Shah, Sardar Rahim, Engineer Shahmir Khan, Mumtaz Ali Rid and Malik Hadi Bux also spoke on the occasion.

PROTEST: Around two dozen blind men took out a precession in Khanpur on Monday in protest against the chairman of the district zakat and ushr committee.

The procession was led by Abdul Karim Suhandiro, president of the Blind Men Welfare Association, Shikarpur.

Gulzar Shaikh, Mohammad Bux Shaikh, Ali Nawaz Hakro and 20 others participated in a rally.

The protesters carried placards in their hands and marched on the main roads of the town.
