ISLAMABAD: As 2024 general elections are approaching fast, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has managed to get support of Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan (Noorani Group).

PPP Secretary General Nayyar Hussain Bukhari made the announcement after meeting his JUP-N counterpart Sahibzada Syed Safdar Shah Gilani on Sunday.

According to a press release issued by the PPP Central Secretariat, the JUP-N has announced withdrawal of all its candidates for national and provincial assembly seats across the country.

The JUP-N has also formed a committee for the withdrawal of nomination papers of its candidates and having close contact with Syed Sibtul Haider Bukhari, who is in charge of PPP central secretariat.

Speaking on the occasion, JUP-N Secretary General Sahibzada Gilani said that the PPP had always stood against sectarianism, therefore his party decided to support it.

Nayyar Bukhari said the PPP always gave respect to religious leaders and scholars, adding that PPP was the only party that could rid the country of prevailing crisis. He said the PPP believed in the power of people and their vote and not on any other support which brought parties in the power. “People have seen the fate of those who disobeyed their facilitators,” he added.

Meanwhile, PPP Central Information Secretary Faisal Karim Kundi said PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif would be defeated by Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari in any debate on TV.

Mr Kundi said it was the desire of the PPP chairman that his opponent presented themselves in the people’s court. He said his party had the credit of increasing salaries of working class in contrast with Nawaz Sharif’s policies that only rendered people out of jobs.
