GWADAR: Protest rallies were organised in various towns of Makran to denounce the alleged extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances, as well as the perceived neglect by the government of the demands put forth by the Turbat long marchers, who have been staging a sit-in protest in front of the National Press Club in Islamabad for the past three weeks. Dr Mahrang Baloch is leading the campaign.

Hundreds of demonstrators, including activists and leaders of different political parties and student organisations, along with women and children, gathered at Seeratun Nabi Chowk. They marched along the main roads of the port city of Gwadar, holding placards and banners bearing anti-government slogans and their demands. They assembled at Shahuda Jovany Chowk where leaders of various political parties and other speakers addressed the marchers.

They said Balochistan is protesting over the state’s atrocities against its own people, adding that if the missing persons are involved in any crime, they must be produced before the courts. Rallies were held in Surbander, Pasni, Jovany and Ormara.
