TOBA TEK SINGH: The election appellate tribunal on Saturday allowed three candidates of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) from Toba Tek Singh, Jhang and Faisalabad whose nomination papers were rejected by the returning officers (ROs) to contest the general election.

Election appellate tribunal judge Justice Asjad Javed Ghurral accepted the appeal of PTI Toba president Mian Abdul Basit advocate against rejection of his nomination papers by the returning officer. The tribunal allowed Basit to contest election for NA-106 and PP-121.

The tribunal accepted the appeal of former federal minister and PTI ticket-holder from NA-108, Jhang, Sahibzada Muhammad Mahboob Sultan against rejection of his nomination papers and allowed him to contest polls.

The tribunal announced the reserved decision on the appeal of former PTI MPA from Faisalabad and current PTI candidate from NA-99, Faisalabad, Malik Umer Farooq against rejection of his nomination papers and allowed him also to contest election.

It also accepted the appeal of Khalid Nawaz Sadhraich, another candidate for NA-106, and allowed him to contest the election.

It adjourned the hearing of the appeal of former MPA from Jhang Maulana Moavia Azam Tariq till Jan 9. He had filed the appeal against rejection of his nomination papers for NA-109, Jhang. The tribunal summoned Returning Officer Abubakar on the next hearing.
