FAISALABAD, Feb 24: Police and Rangers did not allow religious parties to take out anti-cartoon processions in different cities of the Punjab after Friday prayers. About a dozen peaceful demonstrations were held outside major mosques in Faisalabad.

Speaking to the protesters, their leaders vowed to join the Feb 26 protest rally and demonstrations in Lahore against all odds.

OKARA: Hundreds of people who assembled outside Jamia Ghosia, Jamia Usmania and Jamia Mohayul Islam (Lakar Mandi) mosques were not allowed to take out processions by the local police.

The participants dispersed peacefully after ‘Dua’ and pledged to converge on Lahore tomorrow.

All the city filling stations remained closed due to apprehension of mob attacks.

SAHIWAL: Police blocked routes and did not allow protesters to march on roads.

They assembled before Masjid Eidgah and raised slogans against the government.

BAHAWALPUR: Two rallies were brought here after juma congregations — one by MMA against cartoons and other by the Imamia Students Organisation against damage to holy shrines in Iraq.

SIALKOT: MMA took out a peaceful rally from Doonga Bagh Masjid to Allama Iqbal Chowk.

VEHARI: After taking a round of the city, protesters gathered at Pakistan Chowk where they chanted slogans against EU press and their governments.
