CHAKWAL: A 40-year-old woman was gunned down while a man was injured in Kallu village in the limits of Kallar police station on Sunday.

According to police, the woman was living along with her in-laws.

“Her husband was abroad and she allegedly had an extra-marital relation with one of her cousins,” a police official said.

On Sunday her cousin came to meet her and in the meantime, her two brothers-in-law and father-in-law also arrived. One of the accused opened fire on her and her cousin. “The woman died on the spot while the man was seriously injured,” the police official said.

The father of the injured man called the police and informed them that his son had been murdered.

However he was rushed to Kallar Kahar hospital from where the doctors referred him to Rawalpindi where he is still in critical condition.

“He was shot in the neck,” the police official said.

The body of the woman was taken to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for autopsy and was later laid to rest in the evening. The deceased had three children.

“We have registered a case against the three accused who would be arrested soon,” a police official said.
