TAXILA: Railway authorities have retrieved land worth millions of rupees and demolished concrete structures on the Sangjani-Taxila, Taxila-Havilian and Taxila-Hassanabdal section.

Assistant divisional executive engineer railway property and land Mohammad Asif along with Divisional Executive Engineer (DEE) Tayyab Riaz and Inspector of works (IW) Mohammad Faisal Khan, while briefing the newsmen on Tuesday, said a special anti-encroachment drive was launched to retrieve the official land.

He said eight acres of land worth millions of rupees which was illegally occupied by local construction material suppliers was retrieved on Sangjani-Taxila section near Sangjani railway station.

He informed that on Taxila-Havelian section five concrete structures constructed over the state land were demolished near Usman Khattar railway station on 19-20 kilometers section and retrieved 25 marla of land worth Rs10.25 million.

He further said that on the Taxila-Hassanabdal section, state land measuring 70 marla which was illegally encroached upon by land mafia near Wah railway station was retrieved from land grabbing mafia.

He said that in various locations, the land mafia had encroached on railway land for the last many years. He further said that the anti encroachment operation is in full swing and all the illegally occupied as well encroached land would be retrieved from land mafia accordingly.
