CRAZY TRAFFIC: This refers to the letter ‘Chaotic traffic’ (Nov 30). I, like thousands of others, face the same problem while commuting on the M.A. Jinnah Road. The issue started when the Green Bus Project was initiated. Moreover, on the way home, one can observe bumper-to-bumper traffic that is a huge irritant. A major portion of a wall collapsed recently and its debris has covered the footpath and one-third of the already congested road. The authorities concerned should take immediate action by clearing the debris, reconstructing appropriate footpaths and re-carpeting the patches on both sides of the road to ensure a smooth flow of traffic on the road.

FIRE INCIDENTS: This is with reference to the report ‘11 dead as inferno rips through Karachi plaza’ (Nov 26). There is an alarming increase in such deadly incidents. This was the third such incident which caused losses worth millions. Moreover, the residential building where I live has experienced multiple fire incidents, and in one unfortunate incident, a person even lost his life. Since the megacity is only left with the option of having vertical development, such as plazas, there is a need to equip all new infrastructure with reliable and durable fire alarm systems to reduce the risks.

WEDDING WOES: During the wedding season in Pakistan, people play loud music without caring about others. This activity disturbs the residents who are studying for their examinations, trying to have a conversation with their loved ones, relaxing after a hectic day, or just wanting to pray in peace. The music makes the patients and babies restless as they are unable to sleep. It is high time we realised our social responsibility towards our neighbours. The volume of music should be kept at a level that is not disturbing to the others.
