LAKKI MARWAT: The Lakki Marwat police have booked the district president of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and other leaders for organising a gathering here despite a ban.

City police station SHO Haji Sadullah Khan, who is complainant in the case, said the meeting was held at the hujra of Johar Khan, PTI district president.

He said PTI tehsil president Dr Mohammad Iqbal, Misbahullah, Matiullah, Khalid Khan and Naqibullah along with around 2,000 workers gathered to discuss the arrest of PTI’s central vice-president Sher Afzal Marwat and the coming elections.

He said a case had been registered against the PTI leaders under sections 188, 148 and 149 of PPC and further investigation was underway.

ARREST: The police on Wednesday arrested two persons for killing a taxi driver, and recovered parts of the car they had snatched from the slain cabbie.

A police official said on Nov 15, Qismatullah and Jibran of Wanda Chikari booked car of Naseebullah, a resident of Wanda Mir Akbar, from Dadiwala parking lot for Wanda Faqeeran.

He said when Naseebullah did not return from the trip, his brother, Naimatullah contacted one of the suspects, Jibran, who used inappropriate language and asked Naimatullah not to call him again.

Later, the official said the Dadiwala police lodged a case on Naimatullah’s complaint.

He said on Nov 18, the police recovered a body in the forest near Mangala village, and the deceased was identified as the missing taxi driver.

The official said police used modern technology to locate the hideout of the alleged killers and arrested them during a surprise raid.

Meanwhile, a joint team of Peshawar Electric Supply Company, the police and the district administration arrested two power thieves and disconnected illegal connections in parts of Bannu on Wednesday.

The operation was launched on the directives of divisional commissioner Parweiz Sabatkhel, said an official.

He said the team raided commercial and residential areas in Kalakhel, Ismailkhani, Shahbaz Azmatkhel and other areas and disconnected 19 illegal connections.

“A huge amount was also recovered from defaulters,” he claimed.
