‘500 POs in Darra Adam Khel’

Published February 3, 2002

KOHAT, Feb 2: There are at least 500 proclaimed offenders wanted by the district police in Kohat frontier region of Darra Adam Khel, 7km from the city, says a police report.

Senior superintendent of Kohat police, Ihsan Ghani, talking to newsmen said the proximity of the tribal areas was the major cause behind the crime wave in the area.

He told newsmen that he had asked the Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah and the Peshawar corps commander, in writing, to enforce government writ at least in Darra Adam Khel to control the activities of POs in  Kohat.

He said the law and order situation in Hangu was also the result of activities of proclaimed offenders in the Orakzai Agency, where, he claimed, more than 1500 criminals were hiding.
