ISLAMABAD: The Establishment Division on Sunday appointed Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, a BS-21 officer of Pakistan Administrative Service, as the special secretary Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training.

Mr Wani, besides performing as special secretary, will also be looking after the affairs of the ministry till December 31 as Secretary Waseem Ajmal Chaudhry is on leave.

Mr Wani had earlier served as managing director Education Foundation Punjab. During his posting as chief secretary Gilgit-Baltistan, he launched a number of initiatives in the education and information technology sectors.

Before being appointed as the special secretary, he was an officer on special duty (OSD) during which while using his links he got the Islamabad Model School at F-6/3 near Kohsar Market transformed into a blended learning centre with modern facilities.

Now over 300 students of the school are getting benefit from modern technology. These students come from a humble background and 60 per cent of them belong to minorities and marginalised community. The school was provided the facilities with support from Nasiruddin Rupani, a Pakistani businessman living the USA, who heads the Rupani Foundation.
