LAHORE, Feb 19: Various demonstrations were held in the city on Sunday to condemn house arrest of MMA chief Qazi Husain Ahmad and torture of opposition’s protest rally participants in Islamabad.

Demonstrators protested at Akbar Chowk (Township), Bhati Gate, Mughalpura Chowk, Garden Town, Green Town, Siddiqia Colony, Waheed Brothers Colony and Kahna.

Raising slogans for penalising blasphemy accused, boycotting European products and against army rule, they also adopted resolutions condemning Qazi’s house arrest, ban on rallies and torture of demonstrators.

Meanwhile, Jamaatud Daawa’s women wing held a conference to denounce the publication of blasphemous cartoons. The participants pledged to make the ongoing protest drive against the blasphemers a success.

They demanded that all political, diplomatic and trade relations with European countries should be severed until they took action against the accused.
