Water rotation plan announced

KHAIRPUR, Feb 19: Following shortage of irrigation water in the Sukkur barrage, the irrigation department has announced a water rotation plan from February 20.

According to an announcement made by the east division executive engineer, Sanhiro wah, Ali Bahar wah, Khan wah, Faiz wah, Sadrang wah, Sahita small canal, Veeho wah and Ali Nawaz wah will remain closed from February 20 to 28.

Sathio wah, Shahnawaz wah, Bilawal wah, Dhadhano wah and small canals at the head of the Mirwah canal will remain closed from February 28 to March 8.

SANGHAR: The irrigation authorities have introduced an unannounced rotation programme due to shortage of water in the Nara canal.

More than ten branches and small canals in Jhole and Khadro sub-division of the Jamrao canal have been closed.

Farmers claimed that water in the Nara canal had been released on February 1 after annual closure of 20 days but the canal was again closed for more than ten days.
